Tour Aotearoa is one of the world’s great bikepacking trips: stretching 3,000 km from Cape Reinga to Bluff it follows a combination of cycle trails, tracks, paths and lanes connected by the most enjoyable country roads available.
The Tour Aotearoa route is designed to highlight the best New Zealand Cycle Trail Great Rides, Heartland Rides, and quiet back country roads. The route is designed by New Zealand cycling guidebook writer Jonathan Kennett.
A Tour Aotearoa Brevet event is also organised in February each year. The 2025 event starts in waves of 100 people per day (enter the 2025 TA Brevet). Riders are supposed to take no more than 45 days to finish. You can track participants progress down the country at: ta25.maprogress.com
FREE POSTERS: here are two A3 sized posters of the 2018 route [6MB PDF] you can download and print for yourself or friends and family.
